Privacy Policy
This website belongs to Sebastian Schilling, an executive coach based in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, working under the name The Clarity Refuge. This policy explains what personal information I collect through this website, why, and what you can ask of me. I am responsible for it, and you can reach me at sebastian@clarityrefuge.com.
What I collect
- What you send me. When you use the contact form: your name, your email address, your message, what you are interested in and how you heard about me. If you write to me directly, the content of your email.
- How you found the site. With your message I store the page you first arrived on and, if present, the campaign tag in the link you followed (for example from a newsletter). This tells me which channels work.
- Anonymous usage statistics. I use Cloudflare Web Analytics to count visits and see which pages are read. It does not use cookies, does not store your IP address and does not track you across other websites.
- Technical logs. Like every web server, the hosting provider briefly processes your IP address and browser details to deliver the page and protect it against abuse.
This website sets no cookies.
Why I use it
I use your details only to reply to you, to arrange a first conversation and, if we work together, to prepare and run that work. I do not sell or rent your information, I do not add you to a mailing list, and I do not use it for advertising.
Where it is stored
I rely on a small number of service providers, some of which store information outside Canada, including in the United States. While it is there, it may be accessible to authorities in that country under its laws.
- Cloudflare, Inc. hosts this website, delivers the contact form and provides the anonymous statistics.
- Notion Labs, Inc. stores the enquiries sent through the form, so that I can keep track of them.
- Apple Inc. (iCloud Mail) handles my email.
Each of them processes the information on my behalf and is bound by its own security and privacy commitments.
How long I keep it
If we do not start working together, I delete your enquiry within 24 months of our last contact. If we do work together, I keep records for as long as the engagement lasts and as long as tax and legal obligations require afterwards. Anything you tell me in a coaching conversation is treated as confidential.
Your choices and rights
You can ask me at any time what information I hold about you, ask me to correct it, or withdraw your consent and ask me to delete it. Write to sebastian@clarityrefuge.com, and I will respond within 30 days.
If you are not satisfied with my answer, you can contact the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner for British Columbia (oipc.bc.ca) or the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada (priv.gc.ca).
Visitors from the European Union
If you write to me from the EU, I process your details to respond to your request before a possible engagement (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR). You have the rights to access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability and objection, and you can lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. Transfers to the service providers above are based on their standard contractual clauses or equivalent safeguards.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be published on this page with a new date.
